Response conflict in 7- and 9-year-olds: an EEG coherence study

The same seven- and nine-year-old flanker recordings, reported for a signal-processing audience as a coherence study of response conflict.

The idea

This IEEE Digital Signal Processing chapter is the companion to the EMBC coherence paper. It uses the same longitudinal recordings: 45 healthy children at seven, and the same children at nine, doing the Eriksen flanker task. Recognition, accuracy, and response time are still changing quickly at those ages, and the chapter asks how conflict processing is organised in that window.

The approach

Spectral coherence is computed for every electrode pair so congruent and incongruent trials can be compared within each age. The university record links to the IEEE version. It does not include a downloadable PDF, so this page has no first-page image.
